Every once in a while, something happens in this writing life that makes you stop, blink a couple of times, and think, …wait, they want me?
That was me when I was invited to contribute to the Uncollected Anthology—a long-running, author-curated series that has been shaping the urban fantasy landscape for twelve or thirteen years now. If you’re unfamiliar with the project, the short version is this: a group of phenomenal authors release stories a few times a year around a shared theme, but each story is published individually. They call it “Uncollected” because the stories aren’t bundled together… yet they somehow still all fit. (Though they do also release an anthologized version.)
Here’s the official explanation.
Today, I get to officially say: my first Uncollected Anthology story is out now.
Issue #38: Monster Hunters — Available Today
The newest issue, Monster Hunters, releases today, December 1, 2025, and I’m honoured—and more than a little thrilled—to have a story included.
And of course, if someone’s hunting monsters, who else am I going to send but Sister Jacobine?
“Bones of the Priory” — Out Now
My story, Bones of the Priory, sends Sister Jacobine back to modern-day Amesbury, to the ruins of the nunnery where she and her sister Margaret were raised centuries ago. Naturally, Jacobine’s much-anticipated moment of quiet reflection lasts about as long as you’d expect: roughly half a heartbeat.
Because who’s waiting for her there? Margaret. And let’s just say the reunion is… complicated.
What follows is a dark, atmospheric tangle of family loyalty, ancient wounds, and the kind of confrontation only two immortal nuns can have.
A Milestone I’m Truly Honoured By
The Uncollected Anthology has been going strong for 38 issues. The authors involved are writers I’ve admired for years, and being welcomed into their ranks means more to me than I can easily put into words.
Getting to introduce Sister Jacobine to their readers? Even better.
Where to Get It
You can grab Bones of the Priory today, along with the other Monster Hunters stories, wherever you normally buy your ebooks. You can, of course, also get it on Stories Rule Press, here.
Thank you for celebrating release day with me—and for continuing to follow Sister Jacobine into whatever dark, ruined corners she insists on exploring next.
