One of the TV shows that we’ve been enjoying immensely since we got Amazon Prime is The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I highly recommend it! It stars Rachel Brosnahan, Alex Borstein, Tony Shalhoub, and Kevin Pollak. The slug line is very simple: A housewife in 1958 decides to become a stand-up comic. That’s it. Except there’s so much more! Her disapproving Jewish parents, her jealous ex-husband who desperately wanted to be a stand-up comic, her relationship with Lenny Bruce, and her manager, Susie, who everyone mistakes for a guy.
I’ll warn you in advance, though. If you’re going to watch Mrs. Maisel, you’ll have to make sure you bring your bawdy sense of humor. One of the best lines from the first season comes from Mrs. Maisel, herself when she says, “I need a drink. A good, stiff drink. A drink so stiff, I could blow it.”
Best not to be drinking or eating during this show, by the way. You’ll spit more than you swallow.
Check it out! Let me know what you think!
